What to expect

Treatments begin with an intake interview conducted by the acupuncturist. Health history, symptoms, observation of the patient and assessment of the pulse and abdomen are part of this comprehensive intake. Based on this information, a diagnosis is chosen as a well as acupuncture points for treatment. Very thin needles are placed and the patient rests for a period of 15 to 30 minutes usually in a state of deep relaxation. Front and back treatments are often included.

Acupuncture treatments impact your body on many levels. Once the needles are placed, most patients fall in a deep state of relaxation. Some patients feel they reconnect with the deepest core of their being while others just rest peacefully.

is it painful?

Acupuncture needles are extremely thin, about the width of a hair. Most patients don't notice when the needles are placed. All needles are sterilized and one-time use only. At most patients may feel a slight prickling sensation at the site of insertion, which lasts one or two seconds.
